Navy Details How It Will Realize Golden Fleet Initiative, Including Nuclear-Powered Battleship

May 12, 2026 – The U.S. Navy released its 2027 shipbuilding plan, detailing $305.7 billion in spending to build 75 new vessels by 2031, including new Columbia-class submarines, Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, unmanned vessels, and three Trump-class nuclear-powered battleships. The latter is seen as the centerpiece of the “Golden Fleet” initiative, a plan to increase the pace of shipbuilding and investments in next-generation technologies. Once completed, the Navy plan would result in a fleet totaling 299 battle force ships, 68 auxiliary vessels, and 83 unmanned vessels.
US To End More Offshore Wind Leases In Exchange For Fossil Fuel Investments

April 27, 2026 – The Trump administration announced a deal to end two U.S. offshore wind leases in exchange for $885 million in pledged investments in oil and gas production. The two projects were set to place offshore wind facilities off the coasts of New York, New Jersey and California before agreeing to the reallocated investment deals. The Department of the Interior reached a similar deal with a French energy corporation to redirect $1 billion from wind leases to domestic fossil fuel investments a month earlier.
Trump Administration Agrees To Restore Funding For Second Avenue Subway Project

April 16, 2026 – After a months-long delay, federal officials released $60 million in funding for Phase 2 of the New York Metropolitan Authority (MTA)’s Second Avenue Subway project that will extend the line up to 125th Street. The East Harlem portion of the expansion is expected to be completed by 2032. The Second Avenue Subway project is just one part of New York City’s multibillion-dollar mass transit plans.
